Interim Chief Aaron Pisarzewicz

Interim Police Chief Aaron Pisarzewicz of the Los Angeles School Police Department was sworn in on Friday, April 12, 2024, pending the selection of a permanent Chief.  Interim Chief Pisarzewicz has served with the LASPD for 27 years and has been an integral part of the Department's executive team, with a proven record of exemplary leadership, professionalism, collaboration, and accountability.  The LASPD remains steadfast in its mission to work alongside the Los Angeles Unified School District and community safety partners to protect students, staff, faculty, and school communities.

Interim Chief Aaron Pisarzewicz was born and raised in Madison, Wisconsin.  He holds a Bachelor's Degree in Political Science and Criminal Justice from the University of Wisconsin.  Interim Chief Pisarzewicz is also a graduate of the California Police Officer Standards and Training (POST)- Sherman Block Leadership Institute.

Interim Chief Pisarzewicz became a member of the Los Angeles School Police Department in July 1997.  He worked as a police officer in the Department's Central, West, and Operations Support Divisions before being promoted to Sergeant in 2004.  He worked as a Fields Sergeant in North, West, East, and the Administrative Services Division as the Training Sergeant.  He is also an active member of several LAUSD, community, and police organizations dedicated to enhancing school safety for the students, staff, and the greater LAUSD community.

Deputy Chief Glenn Besunder is assigned to the Office of the Chief as the Commanding Officer for the Field Services Bureau (FSB).

Deputy Chief Glenn Besunder began his career with the Los Angeles School Police Department in 1996.  As a Police Officer, he served as a campus and patrol officer for various schools in South Division.  In 2001, as a Field Training Officer, he trained new police officers in North and Central Divisions.  Upon promotion to Sergeant in 2003, he supervised officers assigned to mid-day patrol, and South, West, and North Divisions, as well as serving as the Department Training Manager for several years.  In 2015, he was promoted to Lieutenant and served as the Commanding Officer of Communications Services Division, and East, North, Central and West Divisions.  In 2021, he was promoted to Deputy Chief and assumed command of Field Services Bureau, with responsibility for all patrol/campus services, youth engagement programs, and the Mental Health Evaluation Team.

Deputy Chief Besunder is proud to have served the Department as a Use of Force Instructor and Officer in Charge (founder) of the Defensive Tactics Unit for 15 years.  Deputy Chief Besunder was an operator and team leader for the Critical Response Team for 15 years, which included developing and teaching tactics designed to save lives.

Deputy Chief Besunder is a graduate of the USC Delinquiency Control Institute (Honor Graduate), USC Safe Communities Institute, Sherman Block Supervisory Leadership Institute, and the POST Executive Development Course.  Deputy Chief Besunder holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Sociology (Criminology) and Master of Public Administration (MPA) Degree, both from California State University, Northridge.  In his off time, Deputy Chief Besunder enjoys every moment he can spend with his wife and son.
