Mission Statement

The mission of the Los Angeles School Police Department is to assist students, teachers, administrators and other staff in providing a safe and tranquil environment in which the educational process can take place.

About Us

The Los Angeles School Police Department (LASPD) is a recognized independent school police department, with 276 sworn police officers, 61 non-sworn school safety officers (SSO), and 40 civilian support staff dedicated to serving the Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD). It is the fifth largest police department in Los Angeles County, and the 14th largest in California.
